R/MAME RULES/REGULATIONS REDDIT'S ARCADE COMMUNITY Over time, MAME (originally stood for Multiple Arcade Machine Emulator) absorbed the sister-project MESS (Multi Emulator Super System), so MAME now documents a wide variety of (mostly vintage) computers, video game consoles and calculators, in addition to the arcade video games that were its initial focus. The fact that the software is usable serves primarily to validate the accuracy of the documentation (how else can you prove that you have recreated the hardware faithfully?). The source code to MAME serves as this documentation. This is achieved by documenting the hardware and how it functions. As electronic technology continues to rush forward, MAME prevents this important "vintage" software from being lost and forgotten. MAME’s purpose is to preserve decades of software history. MAME is a multi-purpose emulation framework. If not, then it's something to do with the changes the UI patch does to MAME and you will be forced to use the official builds.Questions? Please check out OUR MAME/BYOAC Wiki! If it works then its how your shortcuts being done. At least TRY using just MAMUI itself without anything else. If you choose to use an unofficial build like MAMUI or if you use 3rd party software to make steam shortcuts then there is nothing anyone or myself can do to help. This has happened and when the emulator itself, Or in the case of MAMe the frontend, was put into steam it would work properly. ![]() ![]() I don't want to start from scratch again :-( If it's launchable via steam, are u using a 3rd party software to do it? There is 1 or 2 out there and they are certainly part of your problem. I know but I've been using MameUI64 for a long time now and have a large catalogue of games all configured just the way I like and launchable via Steam. Has anyone else managed to get MAMEUI working with Steam Controllers or have any suggestions on how I can get mine to work? Thanks. I have tried with the "multiple keyboard" and "multiple mouse" options both on and off in MAME and none of these work (I have a Logitech wireless keyboard and XBox 360 wired controller hooked up as well). I have tried with the Steam Pad connected directly to my PC using USB, as well as connected to my steam link and both don't work. I did briefly get it to recognize the steam controller arrow key inputs in the input screen at one point after plugging in and unplugging my joystick / steam controller in various orders, but haven't been able to replicate this again and the controller still can't be seen. ![]() The steam controller is also working fine as a mouse while selecting games in the MAMEUI front end. The strange thing is that when I am in the input menu, I can see a second dimmer yellow bar scroll up and down in the background when I use the right mouse pad on the steam controller, so Mame is reacting to steam controller inputs in the menu screens, but just won't recognize any inputs on the game input config screen. I launch MameUI64 through Steam big picture mode as an external program and have tried both Keyboard / Mouse and Gamepad profiles, but MAME does not recognize any inputs when I bring up the MAMEUI Input menu, using tab in MAME. Has anyone else had any luck using the Steam Controller with MAMEUI64? No matter what I try, MAMEUI does not recognize any inputs from the Steam Controller. ![]()
